About this project

Information for schools

Welcome to the schools section of our website. All the themes chosen for investigation in this resource complement the aims of the national curriculum for History for KS 1 and KS 2 and have been designed specifically to support QCA Scheme of Work Unit 11: What was it like for children living in Victorian Britain.

For schools within visiting distance of Durham we have developed a trail around Durham’s World Heritage Site highlighting the city’s Victorian past. If you cannot take your class on the trail, or want extra information, we have developed some useful classroom activity sheets to accompany the different themes covered by this resource. The trail (and associated material) and the classroom resources can be downloaded from links below. Both Word and pdf versions of the files are included. You may need to download a pdf viewer before opening the files.
